BREAD PUDDING

 This is by far
the bestest bread pudding you will ever have.....
Absolutely EVERYONE who tastes it wants the recipe.
The first time Ethel had some, it was at the movies.
Yes, I am one of those people who
take their own treats to the theater.
I can't afford 15 dollars for a bag of M&M's,
let alone the price of the ticket.

I have what I call,
 "MY MOVIE PURSE."

I had just taken it out of the oven
when she called to go see War Horse.
When we get there and the lights go out.
Out comes this warm,
delectable, luscious, yummy
pudding.
(I know, a lot of adjectives, but thats how good this stuff is!)

One fork among the 4 of us.
She couldn't believe I brought it!
But once she tried it,
I caught her licking up one side and
down the other of the fork.
Gross Huh?
Back and forth we pass it,
(even after Ethel tongued the fork)
moaning with every bite,
until it was gone.

Sure enough they wanted the recipe!

Here it is right out of the oven

The Bourbon topping with Pecans.
NOM NOM NOM!

And here's the book where I got the recipe.
It's dated March/April 2010.

I know this is small, I will try to enlarge,
but I wanted to get it posted.

This subscription is worth every dime.
Not a lot of pictures, but it gives the absolute best,
"use this and don't use that"
kind of info.
And that's what I'm known for, substituting,
but I followed this recipe to a tee.

I also purchased their
Slow Cooker Revolution,
cookbook.
Every recipe I've tried in this book has been perfect!

It's really worth trying!

Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts

This weekend my daughter and I made these pop tarts.
Fun, Quick, and Very easy.
Thank God for already made pie crust.
I'm not a make your own crust kinda girl.
Anything that makes my life easier is the way I go.

The white rectangle on the top, is the template I used to keep everything the same size.

I used a paring knife to cut out the face.

Don't cut them all out,
you have to remember to save some for the bottom.

Dollop of pumpkin, to much and it will ooze out.
The filling and frosting recipe is at the end of post.

Inspector Number 3
His BD was on the 7th, he is three now.
Woke up the day after and asked if he was still "Free".

Seal edges with a fork.

All of these were out of one two pie crust
Bake
400 degrees
8-10 mins
Looking at this photo I just realized
3 at the top don't have mouths or is it noses.
My daughter must have done those, I'm sure it wasn't me!
The log on the left, was left over dough.
Nothing goes to waste!
I freaked out when I put on the glaze,
but it ended up drying clear

They were very good

Perfect size for little hands
The template is 2"x 3"
Here is where you can get the recipe

Old Sunday Favorite - Cinnamon Flops

This recipe was handed down from my grandmother Lucille, and my mother used to make it on Sunday mornings for us when I was growing up.
Now my kids love it when I make it for them too.
So simple and delicious, but you have to eat it when it has been freshly made, that's when it tastes best.

1 Cup Sugar
Butter the size of a Walnut
2 Cups Flour
2 Rounding Teaspoons of Baking Powder
Add 1 Cup Milk and Beat Well

Spread into two greased round cake pans.  Sprinkle the tops with brown sugar and cinnamon.  Dot the top with butter.  Here they are ready to go into the oven.
Bake at 400 degrees until done.
  Usually about 10-12 minutes.
Check with a toothpick.
And here they are warm from the oven and ready to be enjoyed by another generation of cinnamon flop lovers.
I sometimes add pecans on the top of one of them.
The rest of my family usually don't like the pecans, which then means there are more cinnamon flops for me!!
Enjoy them some Sunday morning with your family.

SWEET POTATO PIE

My dear friend gave me this recipe that she tweaked to accommodate her husbands sissy diet.  Taste better than pumpkin pie.  I will never go back. You have to give it a try, probably the simplest pie I ever made.
Here it is:

Sweet Potato Pie

2 pie crusts
(I used store brought which made my friends skin crawl)

Mix all the ingredients
(or immigrants as a friend calls them, don't you love old people)

2 large sweet potatoes 3 1/2 cups mashed
2t salt
2c vanilla flavored almond milk
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2t cinnamon
1t nutmeg
1t ginger

Pour in pie crusts,
 and bake for 35-40 minutes
at 400 degrees.
insert knife on outer edge to come out clean,
the center will set.

Cauliflower and Broccoli Salad

I have never been a fan of RAW cauliflower and broccoli.  Love it cooked.  Until now! You have got to try this. You can't stop eating it. Very easy.

Here's your "immigrants" as some hillbilly I know calls them.

Chop up into small pieces

Throw everything in a bowl, and add dressing to taste.

Cookie Tree

Well we did it!  The Cookie Tree did get made. I wasn't all talk this time.   But I couldn't have done it with out the help of Prides mommy.  It was a lot of fun.  We were suppose to make two batches of the dough to complete the tree.  That was 10 cups of flour.  We of course split up the ingredients, and made one at a time.  In the process burned up two mixers!  The first mixer I burned up, smoke was pouring out of it. I thought I was in love with it, it was a tilt mixer with a bowl, (Kitchen Aid wanna be) but if you didn't hold the bowl it would spin into space.  But I was happy with it. After I killed that one, I pulled out the old hand held mixer.  Again Smoke! Are you kidding me, I felt like I was mixing cement.  Nothing left to do but go to the Christmas tree and open the gift I got myself.
Yes, I wrapped!
A KITCHEN AID MIXER!
OMG!!!!!  Every home should have one. Throw all the ingredients in and walk away. Unless you add all the flour in at once and turn it on, then you will be wearing the flour like it was.  Prides mommy came to the rescue, Martha Stewart took a dish towel and covered it, then turned it on.  Duh!  Works great!  I was so happy I kept it I was thinking about selling it, I named her Pearl!  This is her new spot in the kitchen, notice how her strip coordinates with the one on the cabinet.  Meant to be!
By the way you don't need 2 batches to make one tree. We had enough to make 2 1/2 trees. We used the recipe that came with the cutters. They were  fantastic.

Before the frosting

We have to come up with an easier way to frost them

Day 2
Oh yeah, we made the mint balls too!
MMMMmmmm
Move over Peppermint Patties these have you beat

Pride is pretty proud of her Cookie Tree!

Mabel Outdid Herself Tonight

Well we got together tonight with another friend for our quilting group and Mabel fed us pretty good.  She made us this tasty Baked Potatoe Pizza. Actually this is the second time she has made it for us and it is delicious!
The recipe is from Taste of Home, check it out.

She also outdid herself with this beautiful cake she made from a recipe she found on Pinterest.
Thanks Mabel for another fun evening.
For the recipe click here:  Hawaiian Carrot Cake
I actually even got a little sewing done on my quilt block, we will both share pictures of what we are working on soon.  I'm so full from the goodies we had I need to go sit in my rocker for a while.  Enjoy the recipes.
